Bavarian Train Crash

How tragic for the passengers who lost their lives and the scores whose lives are greatly damaged, in the head-on collision between two passenger trains in Germany today?!

One cannot escape asking the poignant but somewhat pointless question; how did it happen, inspite of the advanced technological tools we have at our disposal today?

Could they not have had CCTV type cameras at different points of railway tracks? Could they not have had railway radars which could alert the drivers and monitors to the impending catastrophe and thereby avoid it?

In the end, it might prove to be something as 'simple' as one of the trains having reached the lay-by point too early and deciding to try and get to the next station before the on-coming train gets to it.

This was real life Silver Streek and Unstoppable bring hell to innocent people who were totally unaware of the impending disaster.

This should be a clarion call for more in-cab technological equipment to warn of and prevent this kind of catastrophe.
