A person is a reflection of their culture, of what they believe and how they live their lives. A bridge between the past and the future, between time and space and needs to try to keep them in harmony, less they become unbalanced. Not to be aware of the past and give it due consideration in the building of the future can distort the future. Neither is it wise to sacrifice your future because you choose to live in or as if you are in the past. One World One Human Race One Destiny (OWOHROD)

WE ARE FAMILY SO LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL
Just had a meet up with with some family members and had a very enjoyable day with them. What do families do when they meet up? Yes, they reflect on the good times they spent together in the past, probably are having now or hoping to have in the future, gossip a bit and have fun, and so it should be.
This meet up was no different, and our discussion spanned a time period of probably a hundred years or more, as one family member is 96 years old. We talked about her parents having 19 children between them, 10 of whom survived, which meant a mortality rate of about 40 or 45 per cent. We talked about the many children, but also the fact that the parents had to care for them without any recourse to the state. We reflected on our childhood experiences, inter-Island 'rivalries' and the joys of growing up and beholding the amazement of watching plants, such as pumpkin, yams and sweet potatoes germinating, blossoming, shooting and growing to maturity. We also talked about a certain eccentric uncle Alex, who could be described as a rough cut gem; someone you either like or dislike, but a person who is not afraid to speak his mind.
We discussed the changing space and time periods in which we live our lives, as relationships come to an end and new ones are started and the disconnect which results for some members of the family, as their positions are changes and integral family members become less integral, with one branch of the family contracting or closing, while a new branch is started and expands.
We remember and enjoy our memories of the good times we have had with other family members and with family members who have now passed on to become re-assimilated with time and space, but who remain alive in our fond and not so fond thoughts of them. And we contemplated on the misery which some living family members are capable of inflicting, and we wondered, how is it that the 'dead' can still give solace to the living, while the living sometimes extols in causing pain and misery?
We pondered on the joys we had experienced in years gone by, be it that which was provided by Walt Disney's classics, such as Jungle Book, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, or Mufty and Top Cat, or the endearing Thomas the Tank Engine, or the inimitable Bombay Salaam which younger members of the family adored watching. Yes, and we had some good laughs and quiet contemplation, because, living is something we do which creates memories and the living or recalling of those memories.
It is better that we should be able to live our lives taking full responsibilities for creating our own foot prints or lack of foot prints on the earth. If others help us in making our mark, then we should be appreciative of their help, but, if it is our perception that they have not, we should also be guided by the principle that, just as how they did not have any absolute right to expect help from those who preceded them, so are we without any absolute right to their benevolence.
Strive to live your life enjoyably and to realise your full potential, and do what you choose to do for the good of your fellow humans, but let no person deceive themselves into thinking that what you have freely given them, is theirs of right.
