Yes, it is another Sunday, which many considered to be a day of worship; not of the Sun, or the Moon, or of the joy of living, or even of Man, but of god; whomever you believe or have been coerced or forced into believing that perceived deity to be.
Religion is a very big business; there is a lot of money, jobs and prestige, politics and corruption tied up in theistic religion; the art of deceiving the masses.
Can we imagine the dissolution of Catholicism, of Islam and Judaism, even if we believe that all humans would be able to revel in their humanity and get on much better than we are getting on today, without them? Well, yes, many of us can; especially those of us who believe that the distraction and obstacles which theistic religions pose to human freedom and harmony, are things which are costing us dearly. Both in terms of actual cost and alternative costs.
Imagine how better off people would be, if they did not have Catholicism telling them that it is a sin to use effective contraception and that they should rely on abstaining from the joys of sex? Or telling them that if they have sex and it result in conception, then it would be a sin if they were to abort the foetus?
Or, imagine being born in a predominantly Muslim country, and not being free to dress as you please, or express your individualism without any pretence to Islam or any other religion, and living your life as you want to live it, and not as any Imam or any religious zealot want you to do? In other words, imagine being a free soul or person who has the freedom of access to and choice of different views, to revel in the joys and beauty of responsible living, without fear of any 'man inspired god given restrictions?
Yes, how wondrous and magnificent that would be, for millions of religiously imprisoned and deceived humans all over the world. After all, what would better please the gods, had they existed, than to having fragile and time-limited humans living and expressing their humanity - not their presumed 'godity' - peacefully and happily? Instead, people are admonished and forbidden by the established theistic religions, from living a life which affords them the greatest opportunities to appreciate and celebrate their freedom as individuals striving achieve happiness and fulfilment in their lives.
And so it seems to me that, although it is understandable that man should have created and developed the theories of gods in the distant past of human history, man is now cursed to maintain it. Although it is clear that we have evolved to the extent where we no longer need the reassurance of an improbable god, and the oppressive religions based on him. Thus, even though you could be sectioned and placed in a mental hospital if, as an individual, you show yourself to be affected by the kinds of deceptions and delusions upon which theistic religions are founded, the advocates of said religions are 'legitimised' by their respective societies, to continue to perpetuate them.
Theistic religions are, at least for the next few hundred year, and especially in countries which are mainly Islamic or Catholic, to be dissolved, on the basis that they are lack credibility and are deceiving the faithful. Yet, we can but hope that that time will come sooner than we might have expected.
In living your life, endeavour to live it well and happily, and without unfairly infringing the opportunity of others to do likewise. Live your life for yourself and not the gods, who should be able to pursue their own objectives, without seeking any sacrifices from you.
Humans cannot be truly free, unless they cease to make themselves prisoners to their man-created gods!
