AN IMAGINARY CONVERSATION WITH GOD. PART 9

Ancient humans might have worshipped the Moon and the Sun, because of their benefit to their existence, thereby demonstrating their rationality. Contemporary humans perpetuate the belief in an unseen 'god', thereby demonstrating his irrationality

This is a continuation of Taku2u's imaginary conversation with God. In having this conversation, Taku2u is working on the premis that, like a father or mother to their children, God would not object to his children - based on the proposition of the creationists - having an frank and honest conversation with him/her/deity.

T.: Well, G, I appreciate your response, so far. However, it does not accord with what you have been quoted as saying, in Chapter 3, verse 16, where you are quoted as telling Eve that she “will greatly multiply her sorrow and her conception, and that it is in sorrow that she shall give birth to her children, and that her desire shall be to her man, who shall rule over her.” What is the point, G, of creating this couple one minute and then cursing them  the next?

G.: I can understand where you are coming from, T. Yes, it would make no point at all, for me to create Adam and Eve one minute, or millisecond, as far as time and space is concerned, and the very next millisecond to be so frustrated and disappointed with them that I resort to chastising and cursing them. It would make absolutely no sense, for, if I am god, the omnipotent and omniscient deity, then I should have known what Adam and Eve would be up to from one minute to the next, and before they have the time to do whatever is in their hearts.

At which point, if I were the caring god the holy books of you humans make me out to be, I could intervene and stop those things which humans have set their hearts on, or chose to forgive them for what wrongs they have done.

Humans do not curse their children for the wrongs they have done, unless those wrongs are of such magnitude that they warrant it.  How then, could, I, whom the creationists have proclaimed god, be so uncaring and cruel to my creations, if I were to curse Adam and Eve in that manner?

With respect to what I purportedly told Eve, is it not the case that all female creatures that give birth to their young does so in great pain? What, therefore, is the evidence that, the fact that women have many conceptions and gives birth in sorrow, or rather pain, is a curse? Is it not the case that, after enduring great pain in giving birth, the woman’s sorrow turned to joy, as she beholds her child? Her own creation?

T.: Well, I cannot argue with that, G. It is, as the saying goes, self-evidently so. I imagine that I have to attribute that to the authors of the relevant verses of the Bible passing of their own imaginations on to you, as so many others have done throughout the evolution of the concept of god and theism.

They proclaim that god has put words into their mouths, when it is clear that it is they who have put their words into the mouth of the gods they have created.

Nevertheless, thank you for your responses.

To be continued.

The evolution of the concept of 'god' has not advanced from what it was in the Stone Age?
