THE BATTLE FOR ALEPPO - WHY IS THE HYPOCRITICAL WEST SO APOPLECTIC? PART 2

Confronted with the tragic war which is consuming Syria and her people, it is arguable that the participant western nations have been dragging their feel in helping to bring it to an end. Indeed, it seems reasonable to argue that their decision to arm and support the rebels is the main reason why this proxy war is still going on in the sixth year after it was started.

So, why is it that the Americans and Nato and their coalition allies, want to prolong the war in Syria, in an attempt to strengthen their and their proxies' position? Which is the real reason why they are opposed to the current Syrian campaign against eastern Aleppo.

Far from being concerned about civilian casualties in Aleppo, what the west is really concerned about, it to protect the rebels who are occupying it. The west, like the rebels, are simply using the plight of the civilian population to protect the rebels. In this respect, how is the west's and the rebels' use of the civilian population in eastern Aleppo, as hostages behind which they are hiding, different for Isis/Daesh's use of the civilian population as hostages in other areas of Syria and Iraq?

Yes, it is no different; just another card in the machiavellian politics which has become an integral part of the militario-political landscape if conflicts in the Middle East.

The sooner the Syrian Proxy War is ended, the sooner the Syrian people and the supporters of Syrian sovereignty can begin to rebuild their devastated country. The killing will not stop, while the war is going on. It still seems that the least detrimental option for the Syrian people and their government, is for them to continue with their all out offensive to smash the rebels in Aleppo, and force them to surrender or flee.  To allow them to continue their occupation and thereby prolonging the war, can only lead to a worse outcome for all the people of Syria. As more generations are born and become factionalised and militarised, making it more difficult for them adjust to living peacefully in civil society.

The Syrian Government and their supporters need to stick to their guns on this one, and not allow the west and its Islamic coalition partners to deflect it from clearing out all the rebels from Aleppo. There should be no retreating from this objective, as it could result in the lengthening of this catastrophic war.

At the same time as it is prosecuting this offensive, the Government and its allies need to be very mindful of the fact that, the people in Aleppo, especially the Syrian civilians, some of whom will doubtless be supportive of the rebels and be a pool from which they can be replaced, are Syrians.

As such, they are people it will need to become reconciled with and joint builders of a better Syria. In other words, try to avoid fighting the battle in such a way which, while it might be more effective, could also make the necessary reconciliation and nation re-building of tomorrow needlessly difficult. Fight a smart campaign.

The light at the end of the Syrian proxy war tunnel?
