Many people in the host countries do not see immigrants, migrants and refugees, en mass, as actual or potential assets to their countries.
As people who are 'going to help to improve the conditions of their countries, make it more harmonious, more stable and secure.
Immigrants, migrants, refugees, en masse, probably from the proverbial 'time immoral. Are perceived by their hosts, especially if they are reluctant hosts, as presenting different degrees and kinds of threats to them.
A view which is not without some merits, since it is logical that the challenge of having to deal with the unplanned.
And even the planned mass movement of people from diverse backgrounds and visions of the future.
Will invariably place the host countries under the threat, if not actual instability and insecurity.
This is probably an unavoidable situation. With the newcomers, or most of them, not being able, at least initially, to contribute toward the host countries' economy and world-view.
Resulting on them having to rely on their hosts' hospitality and benevolence.
Until such time when they might be able to become productive members of its society, and identify with its overall vision of the present and the future.
This 'accommodation and assimilation' is not something which can or will occur readily, especially in liberal societies.
It is a process which will take time and active and persistent debate and social engineering.
To be continued!
