JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - WHAT IF THINGS ARE NOT AS BAD AS THEY ARE BEING MADE OUT OR APPEAR TO BE? PART 5..

Will it have mattered that blood had been spilled, homes, shops and other property had been set ablaze and damaged?

And livelihoods have been lost and neighbour has been set against neighbour, and citizen against citizen?

What if, despite all of this, French society, probably like all or most societies, were to be found to be no nearer to achieving and maintaining more equalite, fraternity and liberty?

And that, despite that, live in France goes on, even as it had done for centuries.

Because, that is what life is really all about; people, either the same or different ones, constantly struggling to have a better living.

As one generation takes over from the preceding, 'achievers' are replaced with 'dreamers' and aspirants.

And society, humanity, becomes, at times, probably most times, an incongruous amalgam of generations and sectional interests groups who are at different stages of their life's journey.

Looking, seeking and negotiating for consensus on issues where they can perceive themselves to have common interests which they cannot individually secure at the time.

But with different people being at different stages of their struggle, and some losing and some gaining, and still other remaining static or sliding backwards?

All representing the continuity of the struggle of us humans to continue to survive, for as long as we are able and willing to do so.

As we remain at risk of imperilling our very survival, in our, at times, unwise endeavour to maintain our sectional survival.

To be continued!
