JUST A THOUGHT ON - JAIR BOLSONARO, SAVIOUR OF THE NATION OF BRAZIL? PART 1.

'Like a rose which blooms and saturates it environment with its irresistible smell, before it whithers, loses its appeal and die. So also is the temporary popularity of the 'populist leader' fated to be. And Jair Bolsonaro, like is predecessors, will be no different'!

Hail, Saint Bolsonaro, the putative expectant Saviour of the people of Brazil?

Well, if he is to be, it is not apparently the Saviour of all Brazilians, because Saint Bolsonaro has his favourite Brazilians, we have been told.

Though he be a wannabee, an aspiring Saint of Brazil, President Jair Bolsonaro does not see himself as 'a man of the people, of all Brazilians.

He is more concerned about the fate, the prosperity and the providence of rich and middle class Brazilians of white, European, Anglo-Saxon, Judeo-Christian heritage.

Bolsonaro gives, at least to me, the impression of being a White patrician who would be at ease owning thousands of black African and native American slaves.

A man who would relish living in the Brazil of 20, 20, 300 years ago.

One whose family we can imagine would have made it a family tradition to protect the family from any kind of 'contamination by people of Afro- and native Brazilian heritage.

Yes, a man who truly embodies misogynism, homophobia and racism in probably their extreme forms.

Which is probably why he is not looking for an enlightened and futuristic model, vision of development for Brazil.

But, instead, one which is a template of the country's, the nation's past; even its distant past.

Not for Saint Bolsonaro the concerns of Brazil's Afro-Brazilian, its native indigenous people, its women's, its minorities interests and welfare.

No, their concerns do not figure highly in his and his regime's priorities.

To be continued!
