AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX - MAX AND RED BULL MAXED IT, AS FIA SETS NEW SAFETY PRECEDENT. THE END...!










Then it becomes questionable when you decide to invoke the sanctions, not because the rules were infringed, but because of the severity of the impact of the infringement. 

In other words, if, except for rare exceptions, you take no further action, because, as it were, 'nobody has been hurt.'  Then, taking action because 'someone has been hurt', becomes very questionable. 

Drivers and their teams need to know that sanctions will be applied, consistently, if the rules are infringed.  

And that it is not they who are going to be the final arbiters, as might or might not have been the case in the earlier history of Formula 1. 



There has to be a proportionate balance between safety, fairness and risk taking in Formula 1; as should be the case in all contact sports.

But for now, A Very Big Congratulation to Team Red Bull and Max Verstappen for having driven a spectacular and exciting race to win the Austrian Grand Prix; notwithstanding the questionable manoeuvre against Leclerc.

Also A Very Big Congratulation to Team Ferrari and Team Mercedes and Valtteri Bottas, for having made it to P.2 and P.3, respectively.



Let us look forward to the British Grand Prix continuing the exciting racing that the Austrian Grand Prix has given us; but without the occurrence of anymore questionable racing manoeuvre. 

Or the need for any 'populistic' resolution of any which takes place. The FIA and Formula 1 need to be quite clear and open about the rules and regulations they are applying to their profession. 

Especially about 'why these rules', 'in what cases do they apply', and 'what are the consequences for any driver or team infringing them'?  Formula 1 racing should not return to its 'bumper cars stage.'
