The Congress Party, if it is to be resurrected and regain its relevance, must rebrand itself.
Like all pre-and-post colonial political parties, the Congress Party needs to move away from its association with being the Party of the Gandhi family and Gandhites.
To having its raison detre being firmly rooted in and beyond the current conditions of India's socio-political, cultural and religious context.
It is not fit for purpose, neither in terms of being more machiavellianistic than, say the now dominant BJP.
Or in its ability to convince the majority of Indian that it is able to deliver a better Indian society than the BJP, and should be given the electoral mandate to do so.
With the CP performing so dismally during the two most recent elections.
It is difficult to imagine that the Party, or, indeed, the Indian nation, would lose more than it stands to gain.
By the CP allowing it to die and create the political space for a new and healthy party which is capable of competing with the BJP.
