The events which she experienced were 'real', but where she has gone wrong, in my analysis.
Is that she is failing to place her 'dream experience' in the context of ' a dream' and is instead mixing it up with 'waking realities or experiences.'
She is failing to maintain the boundaries which 'ordinary people' draw and maintain between our 'dreaming in our sleep state', and those occurring in our 'waking states.'
This has led her to confuse the two and to use 'waking state experiences' to try to explain and give significance to her distressed or bad dreams, during her 'sleeping' and/or her 'inbetween states.'
As to why my dear mother is 'failing' to separate the boundaries and apply the appropriate responses to them.
Might be due to the increasing deficiencies and inefficiencies of her/our biological infrastructure and our social-programming.
To be continued!
