It is of the nature of the 'liberal-democratic' nation states, that their internal' party political affairs and the ideological leanings of their governments, like the tide of the ocean, tends to swings one way and then the other.
For however long it remains in its current swung position, it, as if being pulled by gravity, will swing back at some point.
Like the force of gravity acting on a ball or balloon casts up into the atmosphere, political power, it seems, is fated to be in almost constant motion.
With its rise and fall or to and fro motion being subjected to the relative balance or strength of the forces keeping the balloon or ball in the air.
