A Very Big Congratulations to Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton and Team Mercedes, for their unexpected P.1 and P. 2 positions, and to Max Verstappen and Team Red Bull, for making up the triumvrate during the Qualifying session of today's Grand Prix in Mexico.
There is not alot one can, reasonably say, but to flick ones head and ask, 'what just happened there, and who'?
Yes, how did Bottas and Hamilton and Team Mercedes came from apparently loosing out in Qualifying to becoming victorious in Qualifying?
Was it something Team Mercedes and Bottas and Hamilton did in Q3?
Did they cast a powerful spell on the Mighty Red Bull and their equally mighty Gladiators, Max The Mighty, and Perez The Man?
Or did the gods gave them, Mercedes and Bottas and Hamilton, the nod?
Probably because of some as yet unidentified offence that a member of Team Red Bull had committed, or have thought, deliberately or unintentionally, of committing against the gods.
That we might never know, as it is the modus operandi of the gods never to speak to humans, unless they have become a threat to them, the gods.
Or was this unexpected achievement by Team Mercedes the result of something having gone amiss somewhere in this part of their race strategy?
The answers to some or all of these questions should become apparent by the end of Today's race.
As punchy as Team Mercedes', Bottas and Hamilton's achievements in Qualifying.
There is no evidence for having strong confident in their ability converting them into a race win, unless they can keep it together and fend of the strong, if not too compelling challenge from Team Red Bull and Max and Perez.
With the pace that Team Red Bull has been deploying consistently in recent races. Bottas and Hamilton and Team Mercedes's chances of keeping ahead of or regaining the lead, were they to lose it, will be dependent on brilliant racing, guided and supported by equally unassailable racing strategy and execution.
Team Mercedes can do it; it is really about whether they will be able to deliver it, in this race. We shall see, in a couple of hours time. But whatever happens; let it be a thrilling and enjoyable race.
